Aṣẹ́ (pronounced Ah-sheh) is a short film directed by Nabila Lester (Los Angeles). It was shot in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and it is the forerunner to a historical fantasy TV series, which is currently in development. It stars Segun Olawale, Joy Kure, Emeka Celestine, Mary Chukwu, and Rabi Usman. Aṣẹ́ was produced by Adeola Adeosun, Arias R. Williams, Nabila Lester, Olabode Ogundipe, and Saddi Khali.
About the Film
Aṣẹ́ is an epic African tale. Set in ancient West Africa, it is the story of three ordinary teens on a seemingly ordinary day, who have a not-so-ordinary run-in with a dark and evil spirit known as Elemosho. Ase introduces the viewer to the ancient world of Oyo, heartland of the growing Yoruba empire, where mystical experiences are common and supernatural forces are always at play.
