The 48 Hour Film Project will come to Lagos for the first time in 2014. It is a global filmmaking competition spanning several cities, which was created in 2001 my Mark Ruppert. The 48 Hour Film Project (Lagos) will pit filmmakers from all over Nigeria against each other, in an attempt to see who can make the best short film in 48 hours. The Lagos producer of the 48 Hour Film Project is film director, Ike Nnaebue (A Mother’s Fight, Keeping My Man).
The winning film in Lagos will go on to Filmapalooza 2014, where it will go up against films from other cities for the title of Best 48 Hour Film of 2014. Filmapalooza is the 48 Hour Film Project’s annual Screening and Awards weekend, where filmmakers from around the world meet to celebrate the best 48 hour films of the year.
A selection of the best films from Filmapalooza 2014 will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, so there is a chance that the winning film from Lagos will go to the Cannes Film Festival. A specific date is yet to be announced for the 48 Hour Film Project in Lagos, but more information about the competition is available at The 48 Hour Film Project: Lagos.
