The opening film for the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF) taking place in Calabar in November, will be Half of a Yellow Sun. This was made known at the ongoing Durban International Film Festival, by Keith Shiri, who is programmer and jury coordinator for AFRIFF.
The film, Half of a Yellow Sun, is an adaptation of an award-winning book of the same name, written by Chimamanda Adichie. It was directed by Biyi Bandele-Thomas, and it stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, Anika Noni Rose. Also in the movie are Onyeka Onwenu, Zack Orji, and OC Ukeje.
